Monday, July 1st

This morning we said goodbye to our students as they were leaving for the Pachacuti camp. They were a little nervous but in good spirits. I think it will be an unforgettable experience where they will make new friendships with people from many different places in Uruguay, Chile and Argentina. But more than anything, I believe that working in rural areas with a poor population will give our students a more realistic picture of what reality is like for a great number of people in this world. We are very blessed to live in Orange County where we don't have to be cold or hungry.

Milo and I made sure that they had extra blankets, work-gloves etc. Their host families had packed a lunch for each one. I spoke with some parents and they had only the best things to say about our students. I agree that this group is the best: so optimistic, adventurous, fun and very respectful. You parents raised them well!
