Happy Fourth of July from Uruguay! Camp site #1

My husband and I are back from the interior of Uruguay to our hotel in Montevideo, where we have WiFi! I can finally update my blog. We have had two very exciting days visiting our students in their camp sites. Little did we know how far they were! We rented a small car and left yesterday morning. After a few hours' drive we arrived in Durazno, the heart of Uruguay. It's a growing town, they say, that has a lot of transportation from one side of the country to the other. With a small map and written directions to the sites we headed off to see Natalie and Zach in a place called Fucvam Flores. The directions stated "from the city of Durazno you take route 14 towards Flores" and that's it! After a few twists and turns, and a few phone calls (thank you,  Eugenia for the local cell phone!), we found the construction site where Zach was busy building a house together with about 15-20 others. We asked where Natalie was and were told that she was at the camp site preparing their food. So we sent there and had a chat with her and her fellow kitchen helper. Both Natalie and Zach sent their Fourth of July greetings to their families! They both seem to be in good spirits and enjoy the comradery! Milo and I left some cookies for them to share and headed off to a small hotel nearby for the night, so that we could get an early start the next day. All is well at camp site #1
