After a good night's sleep at a small hotel in Durazno, Milo and I embarked on our next journey into the unexplored territories of Uruguay! This time we wanted to visit Sarah and Greg in Escuela Maestre Campo. Today the weather was not in our favor - it was pouring down! Directions stated "after route 5 take route 14 to the right, after a bridge, by a bus stop, make a right and proceed forward along an important road - don't despair - you will see the school". With these directions we drove for about an hour on a dirt road surrounded by only cows, horses and sheep, no buildings in site. I clutched the cell phone as though my life depended on it. And after hitting a dead end we realized that we must have gone too far!

We called a previous camp coordinator who was able to give us the number to the leader of Sarah and Greg's group. With Victoria's guidance we made a u-turn, drove another 30 minutes back on the dirt road, looking for a white building and finally spotted it a bit away from the main dirt road. Inside the school we were met by smiling students who were playing the guitar by a warm fire place. They were having a break from work because they had been painting and fixing the old school building for a few days already! Sarah and Greg said that they have had a great experience and they loved the country side where it was so dark at night with only one small light in the school house. Sarah said that she has never seen such a beautiful sky filled with so many stars! As we were about to leave Father Beto walked in to prepare a small mass with the students. They sat around in a circle, sang, prayed and shared the communion. Milo and I felt very good seeing that site #2 was also having a great service experience!
